 Official American Heart Association ACLS Initial/Renewal Classes-NJ

American Heart Association ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. ACLS From The American Heart Association is mandatory for NJ ACLS Providers.

As per the AHA 2020 ACLS guidelines, All NJ ACLS Classes consist of an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In the ACLS Class, skills are taught in group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. SmartCerts takes a simplified approach to ACLS allowing any level provider to quickly and correctly assess and manage a Cardiovascular emergency.
Key changes in the ACLS Update Course, reflecting the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for CardiopulmonaryResuscitation and Emergency  Cardiovascular Care for all NJ based ACLS providers.

• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions,

use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)

• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest

• Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia

• Airway management

• Related pharmacology

• Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke

• Effective communication as a member and leader of a

ACLS resuscitation team

• Effective Resuscitation Team Dynamics

What is the duration of the ACLS Class?
The ACLS course is approx 8 hours for renewals/update ACLS Providers & approx 12 hours for Initial ACLS Providers/Students.

How long is my ACLS Provider Card valid?

Like all American Heart Association Certifications, ACLS is valid for 2 years from the date of issue.
