American Heart Association BLS Certification is a Mandatory Requirement For All NJ Medical Providers/Students


BLS Certification Card

AHA BLS Certification Classes are designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. American Heart Association BLS Certification is required for all Medical Students/Providers as well as BLS Renewal Classes every two years.


Don't Be Fooled by Online BLS Certification Classes That Do Not Require Hands on Training at Their Training Site! Your BLS Card Must Also Be Issued Directly from the American Heart Association. If The front Of Their BLS Certification Has their Companies Name on It, it is NOT an American Heart Assocation BLS Certification. NO Employer or Medical School Will Recognize This Form of BLS To Be Valid! In fact, The ONLY BLS CERTIFICATION that is recognized in NJ is an Official American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification.


American Heart Association BLS Certification Course Include:

• Key changes reflecting the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. 


• Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions,


use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED) for the Adult, Child and Infant Populations.


• Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest.


• Basic Airway management.


• Choking Relief for the Adult, Child and Infant.


Effective communication as a member and leader of a Basic Life Support team.


How long is the American Heart Association BLS Certification Course?

Times vary based on the number of students participating in the class. This range is from 3-4 hours with an average BLS Class time of 3.5 hours.
